Drawing of a Changeling Queen inside a pod-like machine that resembles a uterus, with accompanying fallopian tubes and ovaries. The machine is decorated with insect and ladybug-themed imagery, in varying shades of red, orange, and yellow.

Day 6 - Womb

I think this is going to be retconned, or at least changed a lot.
I do like the idea of Changelings being unique in their ability to hybridize, and I'll try to keep it, but the way it's written here leaves too much room for eugenics in my opinion.

"Changeling Queens have a remarkable affinity for genetics, having known about genes for far longer than any other species. A Queen's ability to manually combine the genes of her offspring has even been used to create viable hybrids with other species. Queens rarely use this ability outside of creating new Queens, as it's far more energy-intensive than allowing normal recombination to occur. As part of the process they enter a torpor-like state. In the past, a Queen would fashion a specially-designed chrysalis to support them while in this state. In the modern day, this has been replaced by a mechanical pod, which is far more efficient." - an excerpt from 'Changelings and You', an in-depth guide to Changelings as a species.
